MAS December meeting graphic. Xmas tree and telescopes

Our December meeting is our annual “telescope clinic” where we invite anyone to bring their troublesome or confusing telescopes to the meeting. Our members will assist you in understanding how they work and diagnosing (and even fixing) any problems you’ve encountered. Also, refreshments!

There will be a short (15-minute) presentation by Craig Jewell, a two-year member and outreach enthusiast in the Madison Astronomical Society:

“A Beginner’s Journey into Awe-stronomy”

Members and guests are invited to bring telescopes that have been problematic for them. Members will assist them in understanding how to use them and may even perform simple repairs for any issues they may encounter.

Craig Jewell head shot

Craig Jewell has been interested in astronomy for many years, but only recently bought a telescope and discovered the Madison Astronomical Society. He is a web developer at the University of Wisconsin Department of Medicine. When not stargazing, he is biking, hiking, juggling, playing pickleball, or reading a book on rainy days.

This meeting will take place in-person at our usual Space Place classroom location. It will also be streamed live to our Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@madisonastronomicalsociety. Space Place is located at 2300 S. Park St., Madison, WI.
