Friday September 12, 2025, 7:00pm – UW Space Place

Seeing the Aurora Borealis is a bucket-list item for many. I’ll tell my story of how I learned about and finally saw the aurora here in Wisconsin, and share some tips tidbits I’ve picked up that can help you see and capture it too, whether it’s your first time or one of many.
Samuel Warfel is an undergraduate student in Astronomy-physics at the University of Wisconsin, where he is also the Vice President of the Astronomy Club. He enjoys photography, especially night sky, Aurora Borealis, and deep space astrophotography, and for a change of pace, woodworking and furniture-making, among other assorted handcrafts. He loves biking (particularly in the winter), hiking, boating in the boat he built, and any opportunity to see mountains, trees, rocks, or lakes.
This meeting will take place in-person at our usual Space Place classroom location. It will also be streamed live to our Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@madisonastronomicalsociety.
