Photographic mistakes take many different forms. Some can be very expensive. Like when you’ve traveled thousands of miles to be in the exact location, at the exact time, to take a very specific shot. When you screw it up, second chances can be difficult to arrange.
In this March meeting presentation, John Rummel will talk about a multi-year plan to be in that spot, to take THAT shot, and how it all went wrong.
Milky Way landscapes are one of the most accessible shots for amateur astrophotographers, and it’s where many start. These shots require the least investment in equipment, and only a modest about of learning about post-processing. But for the committed, they benefit from a willingness to travel to dark skies and beautiful places. This talk is about the challenge of getting all these elements to come together to make a memorable photo.
This meeting will take place in-person at our usual Space Place classroom location. It will also be streamed live to our Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@madisonastronomicalsociety. Space Place is located at 2300 S. Park St., Madison, WI.
