What is the Madison Astronomical Society?
What do M.A.S. members do?

They have fun by pursuing their interests in astronomy! They undertake projects which include lunar and planetary observations, astrophotography, variable star studies, hunts for comets, novae, and supernovae, and asteroid occulatation timings.

Observing members have direct access to the facilities of the Yanna Research Station just outside of Brooklyn which include three large telescopes. Non-observing members also have access to these facilities during Society sponsored star-parties or when accompanied by an observing member

Must I be an expert to join?

No. Our members are amateurs at all levels of experience, from rank beginners to observers with international reputations. They include businessmen, state employees, professionals, retirees, teachers, housewives, and students - people from many walks of life. They are united in their genuine interest in astronomical observation and study.
